My name is Shep Kuester. I have had an amazing
life! I've traveled to every state in the US, all across Canada, and
visited at least a dozen other countries. In many ways though, I'm
probably just like you, an average person that is not well known beyond
friends and family.
I was raised in Ephrata, a small
town in central Washington. I had a great 50's childhood: baseball all
summer at the park; swimming in the creek to stay cool; sleeping outside
from the end of school to the start of school; mowing lawns for spending
money; fishing and camping at every opportunity; riding horses; and
spending a lot of time with my parents and brother (we have some really
funny family stories!). We moved to Cabot, Arkansas in 1962 where I went
to high school for two years. We moved on to Grand Forks, ND where I
attended UND.
I joined the Navy in 1967 as a Hospital
Corpsman. My career spanned 21 years, with 16 years at sea, mostly on
nuclear submarines. I retired in 1988 at Naples, Italy as a Senior
Chief. There are a lot of wild and woolly stories in the middle there,
but no room here for them. Don't get me started, though, unless you have
a couple hours!
I became a dependent husband and
stay-at-home dad after I retired and married Jan, then spent the next 9
years following Jan to various Navy commands, including Adak, Alaska -
1,300 miles off the Alaskan coast. Boy, I loved that place! She retired
in 1997 and we moved to Nephi, Utah. In 2003 she closed her busy
anesthesia practice because of this business and moved here to this
mountain valley in north central Washington. We now live in Carlton, an
unincorporated community in the Methow Valley. The nearest stop light is
45 miles away, and the nearest mall is 85 miles away. We have a 15 acre
rural estate, horses, chickens, and will probably acquire more as time
goes on.
We have two boys. Nathan graduated from WSU (Wazzu)
and is now on the morning show at Fox-12 television in Boise, Idaho. Lew went on a
mission for our church, attended school at Snow College in Ephraim,
Utah, and is now working in Ogden, Utah. His lovely wife Lisa delivered a
georgeous baby girl in October 2007 - her name is Scarlett Joy. It's our first grandbaby! Woohoo!
I had been introduced to MLM in 1971 when I joined Shaklee. I did pretty
well, but a single sailor aboard ship has severe limitations, so I had
to quit. I got back into the industry in 1989, going through 3 different
companies over 5 years. I could really sell products, but the sponsor
thing didn't go well for me. I started my own telecommunications
marketing company in 1994, and did fairly well until I closed the
company in 2003 because we were having so much fun with this company.
I met one of the owners of this company over the internet in 1999 on a
discussion board. In February 2001 he contacted me about test marketing
a new product he and his partner were going to produce. It was soy
candles. I ended the phone call abruptly 6 different times. Finally,
thinking he was crazy, and me crazier for going along with it, I agreed
to try a case, just to humor him. The case arrived, they didn't bother
my asthma, and I actually liked them! I hated candles! That Friday a
friend had a candle party for us - we didn't even know what that was -
and we sold 50+ jars! I was impressed, and the women went nuts over the
candles! Okay, I know a good deal when I see it, and this was a great
deal! The next Monday I maxed out our credit card and bought $7,000 in
candles. Jan wanted to know how I was going to sell enough candles to
pay off that credit card bill - I didn't know! All I knew was that we
were going to be rich! I sold over $5,000 in candles that month, and
ended up selling over $100,000 in candles over the next 14 months. I
couldn't believe what was happening. Women were actually banging on our
door demanding those great soy candles.
June 2002 is a
red-letter period in my life. That's when I was asked to help run the
numbers on taking this candle business into a network marketing program.
It was great fun! We talked and planned for hours every day until the
phone batteries died! The company launched just 10 weeks later. I could
sell like crazy - but I was dismal at sponsoring! I was a dead man!
Well, I had met Jack Zufelt three years prior, so I called Jack begging
for help. I got his latest mentoring tapes, and between August and
November that year I sponsored 50 people! It's been an amazing ride ever
since. We are now leaders in this company, no longer have jobs, and this
is just the beginning of a very long relationship.
Our
desire now is to help others reach their dreams. Can we help you? We
have developed a simple yet powerful system to help anyone that wants
success to get it. If an average couple like us can reach the stars, so
can you. All you have to do is believe you can achieve, and you will do
so in this program. I don't care if you are rich or poor, or if you
never ever experienced success in any job or network marketing venture
before. With these products, a fantastic management team, and a business
plan that is the best on the planet, you can do what we did. Are you

My spiritual journey.
I was raised in a very loving family, as you may already surmise from my
story above. I was told that I was baptized at birth as a Presbyterian.
However, we didn't go to church much. I attended a Catholic military
school from grade 5 to 9 in Spanaway, WA. Every cadet attended mass and
catechism classes, regardless of religious affiliation. I sang in the
choir and loved the Dominican Sisters that taught us and cared for our
student body of about 115 boys. As our family moved around we attended
various denominations. I was not especially attracted to any of them in
particular, so now and then attended whatever church I lived near as the
seasons went by. In college I had classes in philosophy and theology,
which I thought were quite fascinating. I can't remember attending
church at all during my first 10 years in the Navy.
In 1977 I was introduced to the
Mormons. For the first time in my life I received answers to some
questions that had been bothering me for years! I was baptized in July.
Two weeks later I transferred to my first fast attack submarine,
spending 85% of the each year deployed or at sea on training. I lost
contact with the church. In 1989 we were discussing how to raise our son
Lew with spiritual and moral values in a very dangerous world. We called
a dear friend who directed us to the nearest LDS chapel. Jan was
baptized the following Saturday (she'll tell her own spiritual journey
on her page). I have been an active member ever since. I am currently
the Branch President of the Twisp Branch of the Wenatchee Stake here in
Washington. If you would like to know more about my journey and how this
church has changed my life, ask. It's a long story when you hear the
whole thing, but I'm proof that the Lord does leave the ninety and nine
to search for the one that was lost. Another long and fun story is how
Jan and I met and married, and our subsequent journey through life to
today. I love my wife with all my heart. She is my eternal companion and
my very 'bestest' friend!
For those that would like to
know that there is additional scripture besides the Bible, you can get a
free Book Of Mormon, a second testimony of Jesus Christ, by going
here. As you click on
the order link, then enter your country, you have the option of reading
the book online or listening to it online before placing the order.
There is no obligation or cost for requesting this book. At the main
site, Mormon.org, you can find out
more about our faith and what we believe.
If you
wanted to find out about the products and services offered by IBM, would
you talk to a Xerox rep for the answers? Of course not! It's the same
principle here. If you want to know what we believe, ask us, or go our
church's website for the answers. If you would like to ask us directly
about this, we would be pleased do so by
email at your convenience.
